About Lisa
Lisa hails from the Great State of Michigan, but has made Chicago her home. She discovered her passion of making things through bothering her Dad in his hobby wood shop when she was the same height as the workbench- he later built her a workbench scaled down to the size of a six-year old. During her theatrical career, she built props and scenery for many companies; including: Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Illinois Shakespeare Festival, Berkshire Theater Group, Paramount Theater, Northlight Theater, and Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. From 2014 to 2020 she was the Properties Carpenter at Chicago Shakespeare Theater.
Outside of theater, she has worked at Brokenpress Design and Fabrication (Humboldt Park, Chicago) and is currently is a Design Assistant at O’Brien Harris, a bespoke fitted furniture firm in Chicago.
Lisa holds a B.F.A. in Theatre Design and Production from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. She spent the summer of 2012 living in Copenhagen, Denmark studying Scandinavian Furniture design and manufacturing.
